Pheal, a HealthTech app
Wellness and Health tech app concept to help people keep track of their goals and encourage them to
Role and goals
Role
I was the sole designer on the project
Audience
People in their mid twenties to fifties
Outcome
Full functional prototype
Measuring the UX
Surveys
Quantitative research - Surveys
Interviews
Qualitative Research - Interviews
Overview
Context
Once upon a time, in a galaxy not that far away...It was the middle of Covid in 2021...

I was briefed as part of my CareerFoundry bootcamp to create a healthcare app to allow people take control of their physical and mental health.
Problem
Too much online resources... a sense of overwhelming

During the pandemic we were immersed with digital resources about home workouts, better diet suggestions, which created a sense of overwhelming
Solution
Inserting a way to track and check the status of healthy habits by gamifying them

Pheal's concept allows humans to keep track of their health and motivate them to keep up the good habits.
Where to start?
Collecting data - Surveys
Collecting initial user insights about health habits via surveys

Running surveys of 10 questions across 25 people to collet data and segment it based on age range and wellness habits.
User Interviews
Chance to collect qualitative feedback
‍‍
Conducting 5 user interviews to empathise with users and collect behavioural data to frame their needs in stories.
Starting to visualise the concept
Looking for Design Inspiration form real products
How are similar products solving the challenge?

Desk research on Mobbin helped me assess how to leverage existing UX and UI patterns to avoid reinventing the wheel.
The fidelity journey
Trying our patterns and refining the fidelity while still in the research process

While the initial product inspriation started frm paper sketching, I ended up having a High Fidelity prototype before testing it.

This strategy was to give the user more of a finished product feel.
Testing out the prototype
Visualising patterns and working on fidelity refinement

Testing out a prototype before the final visual design refinements to grasp how people reacted to the product.
Finding a brand
The look
Colours, illustrations and tone of voice

Finding a visual identity based on recurring themes in wellness and wellbeing.

The simple logo will reflect UI elements within the app.
Illustrations
Connecting the visual brand in illustrations

Choosing informal illustrations and applying the brand colours since the very onboarding.

This element will also set the informal tone of voice used in the app.
Style Guide
    Usability Improvements throughout testing
    Accessibility
    Password strength

As the app will need to access medical record information, the password needs to be strong.

Adding a password strength meter will inform the user of this need and give them a better sense of security in Pheal.
    Information Architecture fix
    Addressing the medical record experience

The feedback from users trying to navigate in the medical record section was the lack of distincion and organization in folders. Mirrored the language in the rest of the page to allow this
    Conclusion
Overall the project was a great learning experience to:
    • Learn about challenges within the Wellness and Healthtech space
    • Leverage a limited budget to create a solution that addressed user issues
    • Visual design exercise to improve my UI skills
